KIRKUK - The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) militant group appeared to use chemical weapons Tuesday in an attack on the Taza district of Kirkuk, near important energy facilities.
Health officials have not confirmed what chemicals were used or the number of casualties, but a security official in Kirkuk said victims had been taken to the hospital with respiratory problems resulting from exposure to chlorine gas.
