BASRA - Security forces in Basra are continuing to struggle with an array of challenges, including violence near oil fields between rival tribes, tensions with paramilitary groups, and a rise in mafia-style criminal activity.
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has aimed to address the decline in security by beefing up the presence of government security forces in Iraq's oil capital, but a number of recent incidents suggest that problems persist.
