BAGHDAD - A former director general of the state-run South Oil Company, Jabbar Allibi*, was confirmed as the new Iraqi Oil Minister on Monday, four months after he was first proposed for the job.

Parliament approved Allibi and four other new Cabinet ministers in a session that was broadcast on state-run Iraqiya television, providing Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi with political victories after his government reform efforts had stalled for months.
