ERBIL - Before he polled 139,000 votes in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq’s Sept. 21 parliamentary elections, Ali Hama Salih was already famous.
Known as “The Calculator,” he hosted shows on KNN, a local TV network aligned with the opposition party, drawing viewers with line-item breakdowns of what he alleged to be corrupt deals over land, oil and Parliamentarian benefits.
