Baghdad-Kurdistan oil disputes flare up in Parliament
After a period of detente following the formation of a new government, politicians are raising new complaints about federal budget payments to Kurdistan.

BAGHDAD - Iraq's unresolved oil disputes are once again garnering attention from members of Parliament, who are voicing criticism of an informal political deal that has helped increase the federal government's crude exports and ensure financial transfers to the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
Finance Minister Fuad Hussein and Oil Minister Thamir Ghadhban both appeared before committees in Parliament this week, where they faced skeptical questions from MPs who claimed the federal government is failing to impose proper consequences on the KRG for violating its obligations under the 2019 budget law.
