Blast stops northern oil exports

The northern export pipeline has stopped working after an attack in an area that was once a major scene of insurgent attacks.

BAGHDAD - The Oil Ministry has confirmed the blast on the pipeline just outside Beiji was caused by a bomb, not a mechanical issue as previously believed.

Northern oil exports have been shut in. The pipeline was flowing at around a half million barrels per day. It accounts for a fifth of Iraq's oil exports.
