Civilian feared kidnapped in Baghdad
A civilian contractor has disappeared in Baghdad and now appears to feature in a militant group's video, raising fears that kidnap tactics may return to IraqBAGHDAD - An civilian contractor appears to have been kidnapped in Iraq by the Iranian-backed Shia militant group Asaib Ahl al Haq (AAH), who posted a video online of Issam T. Salomi, 60, who has been missing since for more than two weeks.
According to a Department of Defense statement, Salomi, who is a civilian employee with the US Army, has been unaccounted for since January 23, officially listed as Excused Absence Whereabouts Unknown. Search and recovery efforts, said the statement, are ongoing.
