Energy Police chief moved to Border Command

Long-time head of oil police now moved to reconstituted jurisdiction over the country's borders.

Hamid Abdullah Ibrahim, the first head of Iraq's modern Oil Police, has been named the head of the Border Forces Command.

Ibrahim, the chief of the Energy Police since 2011 when it was formed as an umbrella entity that includes the Electricity Police, was promoted from major general to lieutenant general last year. He remained in charge of oil as well.
