BASRA - The Oil Ministry has removed the head of Iraq's state-run South Refineries Company (SRC) – a move that appears to be part of an overhaul of government leadership prompted by a national protest movement.
Abdul Kareem Qassim Jassim, formerly the SRC's assistant director general, has now become acting director general "until a permanent director general is named for the company," according to an order dated Aug. 25 and signed by Oil Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi, which was obtained by Iraq Oil Report.
