Iranian pipeline outage underscores urgency of Iraq’s domestic gas projects

KHANAQIN/BASRA - Iraqi imports of gas from Iran have plummeted in recent days, causing reductions in electricity service and highlighting the country's urgent need for alternative sources of supply.
The national grid has lost 5,500 MW, according an Electricity Ministry statement, because of a stoppage in Iranian pipeline flows that is expected to last at least two weeks.
