BASRA - An attempt by the Basra Oil Company (BOC) to take over logistics operations of Iraq’s offshore oil facilities in the Basra Gulf has led to a rift with Iraq’s ports company, highlighting a competition between state authorities over control of key infrastructure.

The dispute between the Oil Ministry’s BOC and the Transportation Ministry’s General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) has gone beyond the respective ministries and it appears it will ultimately be adjudicated by Iraq’s Cabinet.
