SULAIMANIYA - Yet another drone attack on the Khor Mor gas field has once again highlighted the vulnerability of key energy infrastructure and revived questions about the Iraqi government's ability to apply the rule of law to an array of armed groups operating along the disputed southern border of Iraqi Kurdistan.

An explosives-laden drone hit the Khor Mor project site at about 7 p.m. local time on Feb. 2, according to local security officials and personnel at the field. One official at the field said the intended target appeared to be a condensate storage tank, while another said it was a storage tank and adjacent truck loading bay.

The extent of the damage from the attack, if any, is not yet clear. No injuries were reported, and field operator Dana Gas said in a Feb. 3 statement there was "no impact on production facilities."
