QAIM/BAGHDAD - The Korean Gas Corp. (Kogas) is preparing to restart operations at the Akkas gas field after a deadly April 1 attack on a construction site, now that the Iraqi Army and Oil Police have both enhanced their presence there.

The Akkas field is in Anbar province near the Syrian border, in a highly volatile area that remains vulnerable to terrorist attack and increased militia and gang presence.
