Large fire causes partial shutdown of Rumaila production

Iraq's most prolific oil field temporarily lost about 120,000 bpd of production after 60 wells were taken offline in response to a storage tank fire.

BASRA - A large fire at the Rumaila oil field has temporarily taken about 120,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude production offline and caused minor injuries to some personnel, according to several oil officials.

The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. local time on Friday at Tank 2 of Degassing Station 5, according to an official at the state-run Basra Oil Company (BOC), which oversees the field. The blaze was under control as of about 7 p.m.
