Major attack strikes Erbil security forces

Militants launched a sophisticated assault on the military intelligence headquarters in the heart of Kurdistan's capital, killing at least six people.

ERBIL - A sophisticated suicide bomb and gun attack on the headquarters of Kurdistan's military intelligence forces in Erbil Sunday has left at least six security personnel dead and over 60 people injured.

As of Sunday afternoon, Kurdish authorities were on high alert for further attacks other government buildings and security forces, according to two officials from the intelligence forces, known as the Asayesh. One official said they were searching the city for ambulances without license plates, packed with explosives.
