New leadership for SOMO
Khudair Abbas replaces Ammar al-Anbagi as the head of Iraq's state oil marketing company.

Ammar al-Anbagi is being replaced as the director general of Iraq's oil marketing company, SOMO, just over a year after he assumed leadership of the state-run entity responsible for the country's crude sales.
The new acting leader of SOMO will be Khudhyer Abbas Abed, according to an administrative order dated May 7, 2024, which was seen by Iraq Oil Report and confirmed as authentic by multiple Oil Ministry officials.
