NASSIRIYA - Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdulghani has appointed Bassim Taher Abid as the new acting director general of the Petroleum Contracts and Licensing Directorate (PCLD), according to an official order obtained by Iraq Oil Report.
Abid was previously a deputy director general at the state-run Basra Oil Company (BOC), where he oversaw planning and budget affairs. The PCLD post has been vacant since July, when Ali Maarij, the former director general, was promoted to deputy minister.
