Iraq's Parliament went into recess Dec. 9 without holding a second reading or vote on a Cabinet proposal to amend the budget law to pay Kurdistan's oil-producing companies, postponing further consideration of the bill until January at the earliest.
The delay represents a setback for high-level political efforts to restart Iraq’s northern exports, which averaged over 450,000 barrels per day (bpd) before they went offline in March 2023.
