Q&A: Adnan al-Jaberi, deputy chairman of the Parliament Oil and Gas Committee

BASRA - The Parliament Oil and Gas Committee has clear legislative priorities, but they are not likely to advance this year as the Parliament session winds down ahead of upcoming elections, according to Adnan al-Jaberi, an independent MP from Basra and the deputy chairman of the Oil and Gas Committee.
In an interview with Iraq Oil Report, Jaberi discussed the need for laws to make refinery investment more attractive, to reorganize the Oil Ministry’s regulatory practices, and to govern all oil and gas development. He also spoke about negotiations to restart northern oil exports and the risks of U.S. sanctions.
