ERBIL - As Iraq's central government falters under an onslaught of insurgents, the Kurdistan region appears to be moving swiftly toward independence.
Kurdish Peshmerga forces have pushed to the edges of nearly all of the territory that has been disputed between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Baghdad over the past 11 years. Kurdish leaders say they are not going to be drawn back.
