Q&A: Fatih Birol, head of the International Energy Agency

Iraq is poised to continue playing a leading role in meeting new global energy demand, according to a new report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) to be released Thursday.

In the next decade, Iraq will provide 1.2 million barrels per day (bpd) of additional oil production, the IEA estimates — the third-highest incremental increase of any country, behind only the U.S. and Brazil.
