Qayarah back online under new agreement

Sonangol has renewed a temporary deal with the Oil Ministry to resume partial production at the Qayarah field in Ninewa province.

ERBIL/KIRKUK - The Qayarah heavy oil field in Ninewa province is back online, after Iraq's Oil Ministry and operator Sonangol reached another short-term agreement to resume partial production.

Roughly 10,000 barrels per day (bpd) of production re-started last Tuesday, according to an oil official at Qayarah field. The mayor of Qayarah, Salih al-Jibouri, also confirmed the return of production.
