After restructuring, South Oil Company is renamed
Now that the Dhi Qar Oil Company has been spun off, the Oil Ministry rechristened SOC as the Basra Oil Company.

BASRA - The name of Iraq's largest state-owned upstream oil company now reflects the name of Iraq's oil capital: the South Oil Company (SOC) has officially become the Basra Oil Company (BOC).
In an order this week, Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luiebi formally renamed SOC, where he worked for decades, including as director general from 2003 to 2008.
