UPDATE: Thamir Ghadhban confirmed as Iraq’s new oil minister

BAGHDAD - Thamir Ghadhban was confirmed as Iraq's next oil minister and deputy prime minister for energy late Wednesday night, as Adil Abd al-Mahdi officially took power as prime minister and began fleshing out his government.
The Iraqi Parliament also confirmed 13 other Cabinet ministers, including Fuad Hussein as deputy prime minister for economic affairs and minister of finance, and Luay al-Khatteeb as minister of electricity. Parliament is scheduled to vote on the rest of the Cabinet on Nov. 6.
