ERBIL - Iraq’s Parliament approved the 2017 federal budget on Wednesday, despite boycotts by some MPs from both the autonomous Kurdistan region and Iraq's southern oil provinces, who were pressing for larger shares of state revenue.

The government plans to spend 100.67 trillion Iraqi dinars ($85.17 billion*) next year, down about 5 percent from the 2016 budget.
